狭小地において「庭」を活用した解決案を求められた計画案です。 ニワは人々にとって癒しの場であり、季節の変化を感じ取れる場です。京の町屋では夏場に水をまき暑さをしのぐと言った機能的にも必要な空間もであります。窓は、ニワの景色や香り、風や光を室内に取り込む外部空間と密接したツールです。現代においてはニワの持っている性質が発揮されず、窓からは隣の家の壁が景色になっている事も少なくはないと思います。こうした状況においてニワ・窓・室内の関係性を改善する為に凹madoと言うツールを提案します。凹madoはニワと窓を一体化させたツールで、スラブの高低差で床面積を変えることなく外部空間を家の中に取り込んでいます。敷地ギリギリに家が立ち並ぶ住宅街では、凹madoは立体的に余白を作り出し、隣の家にも風や光、借景までも提供します。
